Express Cold-Chain Railway Connects Heilongjiang to Moscow Express Cold-Chain Railway Connects Heilongjiang to Moscow

(Yicai Global) Sept. 27 -- The first train running on the express cold-chain railway from Tsitsihar in the northeastern Chinese province of Heilongjiang to the Russian capital of Moscow left on Monday and should arrive after a ten-day journey, People's Railway Newspaper reported.

It is carrying nearly 400 tons of onions and will travel more than 7,000 miles. On its return trip, it will bring wine, meat and other commercial goods from Russia to China.

Four cold-chain trains will head to Russia each month. The special trains have newly-built cold closets that meet international transport standards and can keep goods fresh. Their storage facilities feature adjustable controls to maintain appropriate temperatures throughout the transportation process.

This express line acts an international channel between Heilongjiang and Russia for agricultural products and motivates the liberalization of border districts along the Amur River.
