[Exclusive] China’s Shengjing Bank Dispels Rumor of Cash Withdrawal Problems on AliPay [Exclusive] China’s Shengjing Bank Dispels Rumor of Cash Withdrawal Problems on AliPay

(Yicai Global) July 12 -- Shengjing Bank is operating as normal and there have not been any issues with taking out cash through Chinese fintech firm Ant Wealth’s mobile payment app Alipay, the lender told Yicai Global.

“There are no problems withdrawing funds from Shengjing Bank using Alipay,” an Ant Wealth employee also told Yicai Global. The service is available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. China time every day.

Shengjing Bank stopped selling financial products on Alipay from the beginning of last year, when new regulations banned banks from offering such packages on third-party platforms, the Shenyang, northeastern Liaoning province-based lender said. But other services such as balance inquiries and withdrawals are not affected.

Shengjing Bank’s net profit plunged 66.6 percent last year from the year before to CNY402 million (USD60 million), according to its annual report. Last September struggling real estate developer China Evergrande Group sold off CNY10 billion (USD1.4 billion) worth of equity in the bank. The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shenyang Municipal Government is now its largest shareholder.
