(Yicai Global) May 29 -- Chinese dronemaker EHang holdings has obtained government approval to offer drone-based transport services with a payload of more than 150 kilograms.
The company is the first in the world to pick up this type of license, the Nasdaq-listed firm said in a statement earlier this week.
With approval from the Civil Aviation Administration, the Guangzhou-based company plans to start test runs of the service in Taizhou, eastern China, with its own EHang 216 unmanned aerial vehicle.
It hopes to eventually extended the service to include passenger transport.
