(Yicai) Dec. 19 -- The earthquakes that struck China’s northwest and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are not likely to affect tourism in the areas, according to online travel agencies.

Trip.com, Tongcheng, and most other travel agencies do not have tour groups in the quake-hit regions, they told Yicai. Gansu and Xinjiang are in off-season, and there are no arrangements for itineraries and routes, according to Tuniu.

The magnitude-6.2 temblor that hit the northeastern provinces of Gansu and Qinghai, killed at least 126 people and injured 718 others, according to Xinhua News Agency. The country’s deadliest quake in 13 years struck beneath Jishishan county in Gansu at 11.59 p.m. yesterday. And no casualties have been reported after a magnitude-5.5 quake that shook Atush in Xinjiang at 9.46 a.m. today.

There are no travel bookings involving the affected areas in the near future, Tuniu said, adding that the earthquakes will not affect tourism over the year-end break and Chinese New Year holiday in February.

Gansu’s earthquake relief headquarters has deployed more than 1,300 emergency rescue teams and over 180 rescue vehicles to the scene, according to the local emergency management department. The first batch of disaster relief supplies was transported to the affected area.

China's three major telecom operators, China Mobile Communications Group, China United Network Communications, and China Telecom Group, have dispatched more than 400 emergency support workers and 98 emergency vehicles, and provided 18 satellite phones, they told Yicai.
