(Yicai Global) Jan. 14 -- The first downtown Beijing duty-free shop for inbound visitors will open this year.

Cao Pengcheng, deputy director of the city's tourism office, revealed this yesterday, Beijing Business Today reported.

"Beijing's duty-free shop will be better than the airport's in layout, area and commodity categories," Cao explained, but without pinpointing a timetable for the new outlet's debut. "Domestic goods will also be included in tax-free sales," he added.

The shop in the inner area of the capital's Chaoyang district will be an adjunct to the airport locations and will offer comparable prices, Cao said.
