(Yicai Global) Aug. 25 -- As domestic competition pushes China's mobile phone makers to shift their focus to foreign markets, a Russian handset is entering the Chinese market.
The YOTA3 smartphone, jointly researched, developed and manufactured by Rostec Corp. and China Poly Group Ltd. [HKG:0164], will be available in China next month.
The YOTA3 features a color display in front and an e-ink one in back, making it the market's only dual-screen mobile phone, Cww.net.cn reported. Several e-book platforms have agreed to provide content for the smartphone, whose e-ink display allows it to function as an e-reader. Eight billion books are currently YOTA3-compatible.
Rostec is a state-owned Russian group that exports civil and military high-tech industrial products. China Poly Group is a Shenzhen-based electronics producer.
