Donlinks to Invest USD29.5 Million in Laos Potassium Fertilizer Project Donlinks to Invest USD29.5 Million in Laos Potassium Fertilizer Project

(Yicai Global) Jan. 23 -- Potassium fertilizer producer Donlinks International Investment will pump CNY200 million (USD29.5 million) into a Laotian potash project it bought in 2015, it said in a statement yesterday.

The company will also continue to invest in it to expand its annual output to 1 million tons from its current 200,000 tons.

Guangzhou-headquartered Donlinks acquired the right to exploit 35 square kilometers area of potash salt deposits in Khammuane province in central Laos in 2015 and invested in a demonstration production project for potassium fertilizer with an annual output of 100,000 tons.

Total investment in the expansion will be about USD687 million, according to a feasibility study conducted in 2015. The expansion project has thus far not been implemented, however, because of insufficient construction funds.

The company had already invested about CNY600 million as of the end of last year, per the statement.

The proposed cash infusion is only enough for technical upgrade of existing installations, and this will generate quite limited capacity, so more funds will be needed, the statement added.
