(Yicai Global) July 2 -- Car-hailing platform Didi Chuxing will invest more than CNY2 billion (USD292 Million) in safety. Hou Jinglei, the company's chief safety officer, announced this today.
Didi held its first security-themed open day in its Beijing headquarters today. The firm's safety team has now expanded to 2,548 people, Hou said.
The murder-rapes of two women riders of Didi's Hitch service by their drivers last year raised safety concerns about its system and put the firm's operations under the official microscope. Didi is aware it needs to constantly update security mechanisms for its ride-hitching service.
