(Yicai Global) Feb. 7 -- The world's largest ride-hailing operator Didi Chuxing Technology Co. has teamed up with 12 carmakers, including the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, to create a car-sharing platform for new-energy vehicles.
The service will integrate with Didi's existing ride-hailing app, the company said in a statement today. Automakers will also be able to offer vehicle financing and insurance through the platform.
The Chinese car-sharing market will boom over the next few years, with annual orders surging to as much as 700 million from about 20 million now, it added, saying the value of the sector will soar to almost CNY24 billion (USD3.8 billion) from CNY700 million.
Didi hopes the new service will strike up cooperation with new partners along the industrial chain, including vehicle makers, pay-as-you-go car rental platforms, leasing companies and charging service providers.
