Didi's Driver Services Spinoff Snaps Up O2O Car Maintenance Provider Hiservice Didi's Driver Services Spinoff Snaps Up O2O Car Maintenance Provider Hiservice

(Yicai Global) Aug. 15 -- Xiaoju Automobile Solutions, a driver services unit spun off from Didi Chuxing, has acquired online-to-offline car maintenance and repair provider Hiservice.

Xiaoju will merge its existing repairs division with the Shanghai-based target to form a new unit named Xiaoju Auto Care, it said in a statement yesterday. The document did not disclose the acquisition price.

Didi spun off Xiaoju earlier this month and injected USD1 billion into the new firm, hoping to use the subsidiary to gain trust among and better serve car owners as it looks to develop new business.

It will also form part of the ride-hailing giant's auto alliance, which Chief Executive Cheng Wei unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April. The union includes local carmakers as well as the likes of the world's biggest manufacturer, Volkswagen, and Didi hopes the coalition can help it serve two billion riders worldwide over the next 10 years, with a fleet encompassing 10 million electric vehicles.

The deal will give Xiaoju 28 offline premises spanning seven cities in eastern and southern China, and it hopes to use its own branding and resources to enhance the garages' image, and offer improved services and better parts.
