(Yicai Global) May 19 --- China's Didi Chuxing, the world's largest car-hailing platform, has unveiled plans to start offering domestic freight services for the first time.
The ride-hailing platform has begun recruiting cargo drivers in eastern China's Hangzhou and southwestern Chengdu, according to its WeChat post published yesterday. The recruitment process includes an interview, theoretical training, and examination, the note added.
The Beijing-based firm set up a new unit called Kuaiju Anyun Technology on April 14 with registered capital of CNY100 million (USD14.1 million) for the purpose, according to business information platform Tianyancha.
Didi Chuxing will need to compete with domestic peers Manbang Group, Lalamove and GoGoVan in the sector that is expected to see growth from 5 to 7 percent over the next three to five years, according to a report published by iResearch in October 2019.
