(Yicai) Feb. 14 -- Platform engineer jobs in China surged in the first seven days following the end of the Chinese New Year holiday from a year earlier, with job vacancies for algorithm and system engineers soaring 20 percent.
Algorithm engineers, system engineers, research and development managers, automotive chassis engineers, and automotive electrical engineers were the top five positions with the biggest growth in openings from Feb. 5 through Feb. 12, according to a report by recruitment platform Liepin released yesterday.
Job listings for algorithm engineers include high salaries, with 89 percent offering an annual salary of more than CNY200,000 (USD27,440) and 30 percent of over CNY500,000.
Demand for technical talents in various industries is growing due to faster digital transformation and intelligent upgrading, Liepin noted. The surge in demand for algorithm and system engineers highlights market trends.
In addition, the jump in job vacancies for automotive chassis and electrical engineers reflects the active efforts of the auto sector in tech upgrading and intelligent transformation.
Regarding urban talents, the top 20 job openings in the first week after the Chinese New Year break were mainly in first-tier and new first-tier cities. Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, and Guangzhou were the top four by the number of vacancies, with Hangzhou and Suzhou ranking fifth and sixth to lead new first-tier cities.
Many job seekers have started hunting for jobs across cities. Among the top 20 cities, Shanghai is the most popular destination for such workers, while Hefei saw the biggest growth of migrant job seekers at just over 24.8 percent, followed by Qingdao at exactly 24.8 percent.
