(Yicai Global) Dec. 29 -- Ctrip.com International Ltd. [NASDAQ:CTRP], China's online travel services provider, said it had a five-fold increase in the number of Chinese joining its overseas trips for health checkups and other medical services this year.
Each medical tourist spent over CNY50,000 (USD7,188), or about 10 times more than the average outbound traveler, according to Ctrip's Online Medical Tourism Report 2016. Numbers are expected to top 500,000 this year.
China's top three medical tourism destinations are Japan, South Korea and the US, Chinanews.com said. India is noted for its great value for money and has also become extremely popular among Chinese patients. It offers high-quality medicines at competitive prices and high-standard medical services.
