CRRC Unveils New Generation of Middle-to-Low Speed Maglev Train CRRC Unveils New Generation of Middle-to-Low Speed Maglev Train

(Yicai Global) July 3 -- A unit of CRRC, the world's largest supplier of railways equipment, has showcased a new generation of middle-to-low speed magnetic levitation train with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Changchun Railway Vehicles aims to deliver the first of these trains in June next year, for a 38-kilometer-long maglev route in Qingyuan in southern Guangdong province, state-backed China News Service reported.

The train adopts a number of energy saving and environmentally friendly technologies. Its body structure uses lightweight aluminum alloys and composite materials, with good anti-vibration and sound insulation effects. By applying damping materials and using more sound insulation pads, the company reduces vehicle noises to a comfortable level.

Middle-to-low speed maglev trains provide a new choice for Chinese cities as well as foreign cities to improve intracity and intercity transportation since they are economical, environmentally friendly, safe and versatile, the company said.

The firm has already commissioned two high-speed maglev trains with speeds of 500 kilometers per hour on demonstration routes in Shanghai. In the future, CRRC Changchun aims to develop high-speed maglev vehicles capable of reaching 600 kilometers per hour.
