(Yicai Global) Sept. 18 -- A unit of state-owned CRRC has developed China's first domestically made permanent magnet traction motor for trains with a speed of 400 kilometers per hour to increase efficiency and reduce reliance on technologies made overseas.
CRRC Zhuzhou Electric unveiled the TQ-800 motor that breaks the monopoly of foreign technologies, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing the Hunan province-based subsidiary. Before this, the maximum speed of Chinese bullet trains that run on another type of traction system has been 350 km/h.
The TQ-800 boasts high power density, great low-temperature adaptability and lower maintenance cost, Li Guang, deputy director of the unit's traction motor research institute, told Xinhua.
The TQ-800 has reached an advanced international level in all performance indicators and it is expected to be used in a multinational project, the report added.
