(Yicai Global) Dec. 15 -- Shares of Zhuhai CosMX Battery, a leading global maker of consumer lithium-ion batteries, jumped after the Chinese firm said it would become the designated supplier of low-voltage lithium batteries to Jaguar Land Rover, a UK-based carmaker.
CosMX’s stock price [SHA: 688772] rose 3.1 percent to finish at CNY22 (USD3.15) a share today.
JLR selected CosMX to develop and supply specific 12-volt lithium batteries, the Zhuhai-based firm said in a statement late yesterday. The products are expected to be mass produced from 2025, CosMX added, noting that the delivery times, volume, and price will be agreed later.
CosMX’s products are mainly used in laptops, tablets, smartphones, smart wearable devices, power tools, and drones. And the firm has recently ventured into high-end electric motorcycles, car starting batteries, and the energy storage field, according to its website.
It has three production bases in China and one in India.
