CITIC Group, Estonian Officials Agree to Promote eID Applications CITIC Group, Estonian Officials Agree to Promote eID Applications

(Yicai Global) Dec. 1 -- China's state-owned CITIC Group Corp. reached a consensus with senior officials from the government of Estonia on electronic identification mutual trust mechanisms and promoting the application of eIDs. They agreed to further discuss details on relevant fields in the future.

eIDs often use intelligent security chips and cryptographic techniques to allow citizens to identify themselves online without exposing their information. Chinese can use eid.cn to carry out such activities. The European Union put forward plans to establish an identity management system covering the EU in its strategic planning for 2020, and 18 EU members have issued eIDs.

China has more internet users than any other country, and it is working to enhance internet security. CITIC Group promoted and established the Global eIDAlliance to foster and establish mutual trust mechanisms for eIDs among countries, discuss and expand applications, and promote international e-commerce and online trade.

Estonia is one of the biggest eID adopters. Yan Ning, secretary-general of CITIC Group's strategic investment committee, met with Vilyar Lubi, Estonia's deputy minister of economic affairs and infrastructure, during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Eastern Europe.

Founded in 1979, CITIC Group is an integrated multinational conglomerate with businesses covering finance, resources and energy, manufacturing, project contracting and real estate.
