(Yicai Global) Aug. 21 -- The second China International Import Expo, slated to take place in Shanghai in early November, held a roadshow in Nanjing, Jiangsu province yesterday to attract private, small and mid-sized businesses with new products and technologies in the quality of life, food and agricultural arenas.

Twelve CIIE roadshows have been held so far this year, covering most of China. Some exhibitors such as New Zealand dairy Newland, sports apparel and footwear maker Skechers, and high-end home electric appliance maker Bosch Siemens shared their experiences of last year's expo with buyers at the Nanjing event.

At this year's expo, Lancome's custom-made foundation, Lego's limited edition set Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner, and a fine fiber spray product -- a technology that protects the skin with a layer of very fine fiber -- will go on show in the Quality Life section. Bird's eye chilli, the world's second-spiciest pepper, Madagascan baobab powder, and limited-edition glass water bottles from France's Danone will be on display in the Food & Agricultural Products section.

The Quality Life area will showcase mother and baby products, as well as furniture and household supplies. They will be joined by cosmetics, clothing and accessories. An exclusive area for high-end consumer goods will be set up for niche brands that are entering China for the first time.

In the Food & Agricultural Products area, thousands of companies from more than 100 countries and regions will bring in their organic and healthy local products and foods made with modern technologies, including farm products, dairy, vegetables, fruits, meat, aquatic delicacies, snack foods, candy, spices and beverages, among others.

Jiangsu province is an important part of the Yangtze river economic zone and an important province in the Yangtze river delta region. Last year, the province organized more than 20,000 firms and institutions and invited more than 50,000 professional visitors to attend the first CIIE trade fair.

This year, it has arranged for 28 companies and units to participate in three pre-exhibition matchmaking events organized by the import-expo bureau since June.
