(Yicai Global) Aug. 23 -- The China International Import Expo Bureau staged a high-end equipment roadshow for the second China International Import Expo yesterday in Kunshan, a city in China's eastern Jiangsu province.
The CIIE hosted the event in Kunshan because it is home to over 30,000 manufacturing firms. The city is thus the nearest nest of buyers for the CIIE's intelligent and high-end equipment venue. Kunshan sent a contingent of 1,188 procurers and 4,712 people to attend the first CIIE and penned over CNY1.1 billion (USD155.3 million) in purchase orders.
This, the thirteenth CIIE roadshow, is targeting mainly high-end equipment buyers. It is the first time that the expo has held such an event in a county-level city which attracted more than 300 companies.
The roadshow invited the six world-renowned high-end equipment companies machine tool makers Waldrich Coburg, Amada Shanghai Machine Tool, Schunk Intec Precision Machinery Trading Shanghai, Haas Automation Asia and Emag China Machinery and optics maker Carl Zeiss Shanghai to Kunshan to communicate with and find willing buyers before the start of the Expo.
Hiecise Precision Equipment will buy CNY300 million (USD42.4 million) in equipment at the CIIE to enhance its core competitiveness and promote its flexible manufacturing systems, the local company that produces high-end CNC grindings machine said.
The intelligent and high-end equipment exhibition area logged a total turnover of USD16.5 billion at the first CIIE, making it the most popular venue at the inaugural fair.
