Chrysler Recalls 20,000+ Jeep Cherokees in China Chrysler Recalls 20,000+ Jeep Cherokees in China

(Yicai Global) July 19 -- Chrysler Group (China) Sales started the recall yesterday over a latent defect of a portion of its Jeep Cherokees made between May 1, 2010 and Sept. 8, 2013 and imported into China between 2011 and 2014, the country's general customs administration announced the same day, with 21,598 vehicles thus affected.

Improper installation of the outer layer of the moisture separator in the vacuum booster pumps in some of the cars may cause water to enter these pumps and, if the anti-lock braking system activates and the warning light does not illuminate, the driver may be unable to depress the brake pedal which becomes too rigid, per the announcement.

Several famous foreign car brands have in succession announced recalls of tens of thousands of their Chinese cars in the last two months, among them BMW, Audi, Volvo and Porsche.
