(Yicai Global) April 15 -- Local authorities in China's central Chongqing municipality have overseen deals that will enable the launch of the country's first car-sharing project for hydrogen-fueled vehicles.
Chongqing Nan'an district government, Panda Vehicles Leasing and Dida Industrial Technology Research Institute will work together to roll-out the first batch of 200 hydrogen cars for a demonstration project, according to state-backed Chongqing Daily.
The group aims to expand the project to 30 first and second-tier cities nationwide with more than 10,000 cars from Wuhan-based Grove Hydrogen Automotive in circulation. The plans also aim to include technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud.
China's car-sharing sector is dominated by pure-electric vehicles at present, and the introduction of hydrogen autos could be a disruptor for the industry.
Abundant in term of reserves, hydrogen is clean, efficient, safe and environment-friendly. It is often called the ultimate energy source for mankind. The use of the element will help to boost the reduction in emissions and to provide environmental benefits.
