(Yicai) Nov. 7 -- Qualcomm places significant emphasis on its collaboration with Chinese manufacturers of mobile phones and intelligent connected vehicles, the chairman of the American chipmaker's China business said in an interview with Yicai during the China International Import Expo.
The CIIE serves as a key platform for strengthening Qualcomm's relationships with local industry leaders, Frank Meng said. Notably, CIIE participation allows the company to extend its cooperation with local partners and jointly showcase its latest achievements in technology and product collaboration, he added.
Qualcomm's success is deeply intertwined with the success of its customers, per Meng. Although the company excels in technology research and the development of system-on-chips, Qualcomm recognizes that the broader industrial ecosystem is essential. As such, it prioritizes joint development with its partners across the entire value chain.
At this year's CIIE, Qualcomm presented the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, which boasts a 40 percent performance boost compared to its predecessor. The San Diego-based company also showcased its latest advancements in technologies for smart connected vehicles.
Qualcomm continues to use the 'Empowering Industries with 5G+AI' slogan as its business guideline at this year’s CIIE due to its anticipation of the rapid development of fifth-generation wireless networks and a deep understanding of artificial intelligence, Meng said, adding that the firm is committed to technological innovation in this field. The showcased end-products all emphasize AI applications.
Meng emphasized Qualcomm's contributions to the automotive industry, with nearly 60 partner brands having launched over 160 connected new energy vehicles, benefiting both global and Chinese automakers. The Snapdragon Digital Chassis—covering smart connectivity, driving, cockpit, and cloud services—provides a robust technological foundation for these innovations.
Over the past three years, Qualcomm has worked closely with Chinese automakers to enhance user experience, with many recent electric vehicle models integrating Qualcomm's smart cockpit platform, Meng added.
