(Yicai Global) Jan. 6 -- Chinese toy vendor Pop Mart International Group is planning to open its first theme park in Beijing’s Chaoyang Park, the Economic Observer reported today.

The project is still at the design stage, but it will be an immersive leisure and entertainment space, the report said, citing a person with knowledge of the matter. The Beijing-based firm is talking with suppliers who helped build the Universal Studios and Disneyland resorts in China. No details of the investment amount were given.

Chaoyang Park is Beijing’s largest park covering an area of 288.7 hectares. Located between the third and fourth ring roads on the east side of the capital, it is very close to the central business district and main shopping areas.

The Japanese pop culture-inspired toy retailer is most known for its mystery, or ‘blind, 'boxes, which come with the same exterior packaging but have different figurines inside.

Pop Mart’s share price [HKG:9992] closed down 0.71 percent today at HKD42.15 (USD5.40), giving it a market valuation of HKD59 billion (USD7.5 billion).
