(Yicai Global) Oct. 28 -- Chinese shell out over 10 times more money on travel now than they did in 1999, a report online travel agency Ctrip today released today to mark its 20th anniversary shows.
Only 784 users registered with Ctrip when it first launched, placing an average of two orders that year, with an average spending of CNY750 (USD106) for each order. Each user, by contrast, placed 14 orders last year, and laid out over CNY1,600 a pop.
The e-travel agency also has over 400 million users now, including 100 million overseas, mainly from Japan, South Korea, the US, Singapore and the UK, it says.
