Chinese Shares Extend Losses This Morning With Agriculture, Liquor Among Worst-Performers

(Yicai Global) May 20 -- China's stock market opened lower this morning, extending losses in early trading. Agriculture and liquor stocks lead the losses.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.26 percent lower at 2,874.80 points, dropping 1.5 percent as of 10.25 a.m. 

The Shenzhen Composite Index started 0.22 percent lower at 8,980.80, and the decline widened to over 2.1 percent as of 10.25 a.m. 

The ChiNext, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, opened 0.04% lower at 1,478.2 and extended its losses to 1.6 percent as of 10.25 a.m.

Agriculture stocks slumped almost 4 percent and those from the liquor sector dropped about 3 percent.
