(Yicai) Dec. 19 -- Ten months after delisting from the Nasdaq, Chinese self-driving trucking company TuSimple has rebranded as CreateAI, shifting its focus to generative artificial intelligence and animation for films and video games.
CreateAI will leverage its existing technology platform and expertise while integrating premium cultural intellectual property and creative talent to deliver high-quality animation and game content to global users, the Beijing-based firm announced today.
Founded in 2015, TuSimple initially focused on autonomous trucking technologies and became the world's first autonomous driving startup to list on the Nasdaq in 2021. Following management disputes, the company delisted from the US market in February.
The company has already initiated several generative AI projects. CreateAI announced today it will collaborate with acclaimed Japanese animation director Shoji Kawamori and production company Shirogumi to create an animated feature film based on 'The Three-Body Problem', a science fiction novel by Chinese author Liu Cixin. Additionally, it will develop an open-world role-playing video game based on the martial arts game IP Heroes of Jin Yong.
Two days ago, CreateAI launched Ruyi, its first AI model, an open-source image-to-video generator. The company plans to use Ruyi to develop additional AI-generated content tools for game and animation production.
The company first revealed its plans to enter the generative AI sector in August, announcing cooperation with 'The Three-Body Problem' copyright holder to jointly develop an animated feature film and video games based on the novel. At that time, Chief Executive Lv Cheng indicated that TuSimple would maintain its presence in the autonomous driving sector.
