Chinese Private Firms Are Discriminated, Party Advisor Says Chinese Private Firms Are Discriminated, Party Advisor Says

(Yicai Global) Oct. 26 -- Chinese non-governmental firms are underprivileged amid unstable development, a vice-chief of a political advisory body said.

The economic development is not stable and some of the problems stem from discrimination against private enterprises, said Yang Weimin, the deputy director of the Economic Committee at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Yang spoke at the 40-Year High-Level Forum for China's Reform and Opening Up today.

A socialist market economy does not deny the general rules of a market economy, according to Yang. Instead, what is wrong with the current economic situation is its imbalanced and unsustainable development. China must promote a market-oriented reform, as well as advance its property rights system, Yang added.
