(Yicai Global) Dec. 2 -- TCL Technology Group’s shares gained by the daily trading limit on strong expectations for mini light-emitting diode technology among investors and pundits.

TCL [SHE: 000100] rose 10 percent to a 52-week high of CNY8.01 (USD1.22), giving the panel maker and consumer electronics giant a market capitalization of CNY98.36 billion (USD15 billion).

Analysts at China International Capital recommended investors glimpse the opportunity from the mini/micro LED upgrading amid industrial recovery in a report today. Mini LED will become the standard next year and reap a five- to 10-year bonanza as a result, per the report.

Huizhou, Guangdong province-based TCL, which produces mini-LED television sets, is banking on the technology.

The global market for mini-LED backlight is expected to reach USD530 million, and mini-LED display volumes will reach USD640 million, Minsheng Securities said today.

Last month, TCL reported an 11-fold increase in third-quarter net profit to HKD360 million (USD46.4 million), mainly driven by sales of its overseas brands and internet-based services. Revenue jumped 77 percent to HKD14.7 billion (USD1.9 billion), its earnings report showed.

The company’s stock price has risen 80 percent so far this year.
