(Yicai Global) Dec. 1 -- Emerging Chinese new-energy vehicle maker WM Motor Technology Co. will team up with internet giant NetEase Inc.'s [NASDAQ:NTES] Artificial Intelligence Division (NetEase AI) to develop smart vehicles together, NetEase reported through its online news outlet.

Under the agreement, the pair will cooperate in artificial intelligence and augmented reality, Big Data, user interface and experience, and research and development.

Following partnerships with Huawei Technologies Co., Robert Bosch GmbH, Qihoo 360 Technology Co. [NYSE:QIHU] and Mobileye Inc. in autonomous driving, the agreement with NetEase AI will provide WM Motor's 'smarter cars' with cognitive intelligence and in independent ability to make decisions based on the internet, Big Data and AI.

Founded in December 2015, WM Motors positions itself as a service provider for new-energy vehicle companies and travel solutions. Unlike a number of other new-energy carmakers, WM's founder Shen Hui has vast experience in the automotive industry.

WM unveiled its first concept car, the AG2020, at Auto Shanghai 2017. The firm's first production vehicle is due to come off the assembly line in 2018, Shen said.
