(Yicai Global) May 7 -- Stock markets on the Chinese mainland opened higher after huge losses yesterday as investors looked to pick up newly created bargain stocks.
The Shanghai Composite Index started up 0.27 percent at 2,914.29 while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.76 percent higher at 9,011.52. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, began the day up 0.8 percent at 1,506.97.
The three major stock benchmarks crashed yesterday amid turmoil across the world's financial markets.
