(Yicai Global) Jan. 12 -- Kibing Group Co., China's largest sheet-glass maker, will invest CNY372 million (USD57.23 million) in a new production line for electronic glass in response to increasing demand for touchscreens at home and abroad, the firm said in a press briefing yesterday.

The Shanghai-based firm's new line will boast a daily production capacity of 65 tons of electric glass, a key raw material for screens used in smartphones, personal computers, laptops and medical devices.

The company expects construction of the assembly line at its plant in Liling, in China's central Hunan province, to take 12 months.

Demand for electronic glass continues to rise, with most Chinese firms still getting most of their supplies from abroad.
