(Yicai Global) April 30 -- Chinese gaming company Perfect World posted over CNY1.7 billion (USD252.5 million) of net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company last year, an increase of CNY200 million or 13.4 percent over the same period last year.

Its net profit in the first quarter rose 35 percent to CNY486 million, according to its 2018 annual financial report and the first-quarter financial report it released yesterday.

Perfect World's share [SHE:002624] price closed up 1 percent to CNY27.2 (USD4) yesterday and opened up 2.1 percent today.

The Beijing-based company mainly plies the video game, film and television businesses. Its gaming revenue fell 4.1 percent to CNY5.4 billion last year, while the revenue it gained from its film and television business rose 14.6 percent to CNY2.6 billion.

Perfect World is producing 22 TV series and four films and preparing to issue 14 TV series and six films this year. It will continue developing Chinese films of international quality and entrench its positioning in online cinema to further promote the diversified development of its film business, the firm said.

The company is developing an online game New Zhu Xian World based on its flagship intellectual property, Xiao Ding's popular online Zhu Xian ('Heavenly Retribution') fantasy novel. It is also enhancing its cooperation with Bellevue, Washington-based gamer Valve and will hold The International 2019 Dota 2 esports tournament in Shanghai from Aug. 20 to 25 for the first time under their bilateral efforts.

Perfect World's annual overseas income climbed 20 percent to nearly CNY1.5 billion last year.

The company has licensed overseas broadcasts of its TV series exclusively to many world-famous networks and streaming media.

Perfect World is accelerating the pace of exports of its mobile games this year and is developing many games suitable for the international market, per the report.

The firm will also team with Google and use the latter's global intelligent marketing solutions to upgrade its strategy to go global, Perfect World announced.
