(Yicai Global) Dec. 11 -- The stock price of speaker and headset maker Edifier Technology has jumped over fourfold this year as China's capital market has become enamored with its wireless earbuds.

The company's four major stockholders will unload up to 2 percent of the firm's share capital, according to the reduction plan they have devised, the firm said in a statement yesterday.

Apple's introduction this year of two wireless earpieces -- the AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro -- drew capital markets' attention to true wireless stereo technology. China's leading wireless headphone maker Edifier is likewise a magnet for investment. Its peak price gains reached 37 percent, 49 percent, and 62 percent, respectively, in the past three months for 425 percent growth overall since the year began.

Beijing-based Edifier's share price [SHE:002351] surged more than 5 percent at today's opening, then faltered, ending up just 0.67 percent at CNY25.61 (USD3.60) at lunch, but revived a bit to trade 1.14 percent up at CNY25.60 in mid-afternoon.

Company Vice President Wen Yu, Wang Xiaohong, director, Zhang Wensheng, director and vice president, and Deng Longmu, vice president, plan to trim their holdings in the next half year for reasons of personal finances, per the statement.

Wang holds the most among the 6.45 percent shares and wants to dispose of up to 1.61 percent. Zhang, who has 1.98 percent, plans to let go of 0.34 percent, while Deng and Wen, with 0.03 percent each, propose shedding 0.01 percent.

Second-largest shareholder Xiao Min, with a 25.45 percent stake, unveiled a scheme to dump up to 2 percent of the firm's total equity on Nov. 14, and wound up selling 1 percent via centralized bidding on Dec. 9, per the statement.
