(Yicai Global) Feb. 14 -- NavInfo’s shares rose after the Chinese provider of digital mapping services said it has inked a deal with BMW to provide advanced driver-assistance system map services for the German auto giant’s next-generation self-driving technology.
Shares of NavInfo [SHE: 002405] rose 2.3 percent to CNY13 (USD1.91) today. The wider Shenzhen market came off 0.2 percent.
NavInfo will also supply high-definition maps and location-based services to BMW, the Beijing-based company said yesterday. The size of the deal will depend on the number of BMW vehicles equipped with the ADAS system in China.
The agreement will further increase NavInfo’s market share and improve its profitability and operational results, according to the company.
Founded in 2002, NavInfo was the first firm in China to receive a navigation electronic map license and has focused on developing its high-precision mapping business since 2015.
