(Yicai) April 29 -- Chinese cities, including Shenzhen and Dongguan, as well as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and other provinces, have issued new support policies to help domestic exporters shift to the home market.

Shenzhen, located in Guangdong province, will grant a subsidy equal to 0.5 percent of the annual sales growth amount of merchants on e-commerce platforms that reach a specific revenue, with a maximum of CNY3 million (USD411,240) per company. In addition, companies opening online stores that are included for the first time in the online retail businesses above the designated size and meet relevant conditions will receive a one-time reward of up to CNY500,000 (USD68,540).

E-commerce companies above the designated size in Shenzhen that achieve a specific annual growth in online retail sales will be eligible for incentives of 0.5 percent of their increased revenue, with a ceiling of CNY25 million (USD3.4 million).

Shenzhen will also give trade-in subsidies for electronics and home appliances while supporting commercial districts, industry associations, and companies in organizing events to boost consumption, covering half the costs of up to CNY2 million. Retailers will earn CNY500,000 for every CNY100 million (USD13.7 million) jump in sales, capping at CNY10 million.

On April 18, the Shanghai government said during a networking event that it has teamed up with leading e‑commerce platforms and retail groups to provide exporters with policy consultations, updates on standards changes, product testing, and certification services to lower the costs for those seeking domestic sales. The city held a second networking event with shopping malls and supermarkets yesterday.

On April 14, Dongguan, also in Guangdong province, released a plan to stabilize foreign trade growth, emphasizing the integration of domestic and international markets through the dual circulation of the two to enhance foreign trade growth and industrial resilience.

Zhejiang held a symposium on April 10 to advance high-quality foreign trade development, encouraging businesses to secure orders, expand markets, and stabilize employment. The local government pledged to address corporate challenges, reduce logistics costs, and support domestic and global market expansion.

On April 9, Jiangsu outlined its long-term strategy to expand domestic demand, establishing a 20-department coordination mechanism to foster development platforms and industrial clusters integrating domestic and foreign trade.
