(Yicai Global) Nov. 26 -- China Environmental United Certification Center, a green product certification agency affiliated with the country's environment ministry has obtained a secretariat license from the International Green Purchasing Network.
The Chinese Secretariat will give full play to IGPN's role in promoting green procurement among government departments, non-governmental organizations and enterprises while advocating green production and consumption, CEC General Manager Zhang Xiaodan told Yicai Global.
Green procurement requires government departments and organizations to prioritize environmentally-friendly and energy-saving products that meet national environment-protection standards when spending fiscal funds.
IGPN is a non-governmental organization formed by green purchasing networks in 12 countries and regions, which has led and supported several international cooperation projects that have contributed to the development of regional and international green procurement.
"This marks the overseas recognition of China's work and achievements in green procurement by, green consumption, green supply chains and other sectors," said Cheng Chunming, deputy director at the Chinese government's Environmental Development Center.
