(Yicai Global) Oct. 22 -- Chinese automobiles, including vintage models, electric vehicles and sports cars, have gone on display in the five-day Qatar Motor Show to receive a positive reception. The country is preparing to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup by upgrading its road network, which may boost car sales.
More than 160 types of vehicles from manufacturers such as Beijing Automotive Group and SAIC Volkswagen Automotive, participated in the exhibition, state media Xinhua News Agency reported. The Qatar Motor Show ended yesterday.
"Chinese autos entered Qatar years ago and are popular with clients," said Ali Mohammed, president of a Qatar-based vehicle trading firm. "They can compete with similar cars from Japan, Europe and America -- thanks to their high quality but low price."
Market prospects for China-made autos are estimated to be promising, so the company is considering selling them to other Arab countries, the car trader added.
Chinese cars have an attractive design and competitive pricing, said Saleh, a college student at the fair, adding that Chinese vehicles are a candidate for his next purchase.
