(Yicai Global) June 29 -- China's biggest cable layer Hengtong Optic-Electric has recently won the bidding for the installation of a 2,800-kilometer submarine cable in Chile.
Subsidiary Hengtong Marine Cable System has received a letter of acceptance for the project, the Suzhou-based company said in a statement, adding that the new win brings total overseas orders to date to more than 10,000 km of cable.
The submarine cable system will connect the southern city of Puerto Montt to the Patagonian cities of Caleta Tortel and Punta Arenas. The actual purchase quantity is subject to the final purchase order, the statement said. The enterprise did not confirm the contract value.
The win marks another major international order for Hengtong, after successful deliveries in Malaysia, Comoros and Maldives.
