(Yicai Global) Sept. 21 -- Box offices in China took in USD1.12 billion (CNY7.3 billion) last month, marking annual growth of more than 30 percent and setting a new monthly box office record, Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng said at a regular press conference today.

Retail sales of 5,000 key enterprises supervised by the ministry increased by 5.2 percent annually last month with a growth rate increase of 0.1 percentage point from July, creating a new high since 2015.

The online retail of physical goods in the country in the first eight months of the year rose 29.2 percent annually, with a growth rate 0.3 percentage point and 3.7 percentage points higher than in the first half of this year and the same period of last year, respectively. Internet sales of physical goods accounted for 13.8 percent of total retail sales of social consumer goods, marking a 2.3-percentage point increase over the same period last year.
