(Yicai Global) Dec. 15 -- Chinese box office sensation Wolf Warrior 2 will not be getting an Oscar.

Released today, the nominee list for the best foreign language film category at the 90th Academy Awards does not include the Chinese movies Wolf Warrior 2, Mad World and Small Talk.

This year, 92 renowned films competed for nominations in the foreign language category. First They Killed My Father, which Angelina Jolie directed, and the acclaimed 120 Battements Par Minute did not make the cut for the Academy Awards. Both won Online Film Critics Society Awards. The winner of this year's Golden Bear and Palme d'Or made the nominee list. Golden Lion Award recipient The Shape of Water did not.

An announcement will reveal the five Oscar finalists on Jan. 23. Winners will receive awards on March 4.

Wolf Warrior 2, which Wu Jing directed, raked in CNY5.6 billion (USD850 million) in China within 72 days of its release, setting a Chinese box office record. It ranked 55th in the global box office, the highest among Asian films.
