(Yicai Global) Sept. 13 -- Shares of China's LuxShare Precision jumped after the Apple supplier said the latest patent lawsuit in the United States with Amphenol, an American connector maker, has ended with no substantial impact on its business.

LuxShare [SHE: 002475] surged as much as 5.4 percent intraday and closed 1.5 percent up at CNY36.77 (USD5.30). The shares are still nearly 25 percent down this year.

Very few of LuxShare’s earlier-generation products exported to the US fell into the scope of patent protection claimed by Amphenol, per a final ruling made by the US International Trade Commission, the Dongguan-based company said in a statement today. Those products were replaced by next-generation ones and the ITC said the firm’s new solution did not infringe on any licensing rights of Amphenol, it added.

Connecticut-headquartered Amphenol filed a complaint to the ITC in December 2020, accusing LuxShare of selling products that violated three of its patents in the States, prompting a Section 337 investigation. The American maker of sensors and antennas requested the ITC to issue limited exclusion and cease-and-desist orders.

Founded in 2004, LuxShare is a rival of Amphenol in electrical connectors. The company entered California-headquartered Apple’s supply chain through mergers and acquisitions, becoming a major foundry for AirPods in 2017, and further expanding to Apple Watches and iPhones later.
