(Yicai Global) Sept. 25 -- The Chinese affiliate of Asea Brown Boveri Ltd. (ABB), a Swiss conglomerate in automation and power technology, will comprehensively cooperate in the fields of industry, energy, transport and infrastructure with southwest China's Chongqing city.

 ABB (China) Co. signed a cooperative agreement with the municipal government on Sept. 23. ABB's local transformer manufacturing facility will further raise its production capacity and enhance its research in and development of UHV transformers to help build more power projects in China.

 ABB will also inaugurate the business of sales, applications and systems integration of automatons in western China based on its robotics application center in Chongqing to develop the industry and build the municipality into a robotics city.

 ABB will further furnish Chongqing with its experience in charging piles and the latest technologies in charging network operation management to hasten local construction of charging infrastructure for electric cars. The two will also cooperate in smart city, rail transit and smart power grid technologies.

 ABB formed ABB (China) Co. in Beijing in 1995. It now has branch companies and service outlets in 80 Chinese cities and 18,000 employees. It set up its largest transformer manufacturing plant in Chongqing in 1998 and its turbo boost manufacturing division in the city in 2006.
