(Yicai) June 13 -- The eighth China-Eurasia Expo will be held in Urumqi in China’s western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regio from June 26 to June 30, showcasing the opportunities brought about by the Silk Road.

Fifty countries, regions, and international organizations will hold exhibitions at the expo, Liu Dianxun, director of the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, said yesterday.

Among them, 23 countries, three regions, and one international organization will arrange dedicated pavilions and exhibition halls, said Xiong Zhejia, deputy secretary-general of the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. There will be also more than 1,000 companies exhibiting their products, Xiong added.

The China-Eurasia Expo also aims to attract professional visitors and buyers from countries and regions in Asia and Europe, who will be engaged in investment activities in the agricultural products, food, textiles, energy, and chemicals sectors with exhibitors, Liu noted, adding that internationalization will be an important feature of the expo this year.

Government delegations from guest countries, such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, and business delegations from 37 nations and regions have signed up to participate in various promotion and exchange activities, expressing their strong desire to establish partnerships in the economy and trade, science and technology, and 10 other fields, Xiong explained.

A total of 12,200 exhibitors and nearly 2.2 million visitors from more than 70 countries and regions attended the China-Eurasia Expo since it was first held in 2011.
