(Yicai) May 10 -- China’s three major nuclear power groups have entered into cooperation with Electricité de France while accompanying Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Europe.
China National Nuclear Corporation and EDF signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Prospective Study on “Bluebook” on Nuclear Energy to Support for Low Carbon. This document is the first practical cooperation of strategic research on nuclear energy between China and France, said Luo Qingping, chairman of China Institute of Nuclear Industry Strategy.
Chinese President Xi Jinping paid state visits to France, Serbia, and Hungary from May 5 to today, at the invitation of the three countries. Representatives from over 10 energy companies, including CNNC, China General Nuclear Power Group, State Power Investment Corporation, and China Datang, accompanied Xi during the trip.
CGN signed a letter of intent with EDF to expand and strengthen their cooperation on nuclear power engineering and construction, talent training, European pressurized reactor operations, and nuclear power operation leadership training.
SPIC and EDF agreed to deepen their cooperation on green hydrogen energy, comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy, and third-party markets.
The other representatives accompanying the Chinese committee to Europe were from Chint Group, Jinko Solar, Trina Solar, Contemporary Amperex Technology, Eve Energy, Envision Group, Geely Holding Group, Nio, and Wanbang Digital Energy.
Some of the above private companies from the photovoltaic, energy storage, and new energy vehicle sectors also signed deals with French companies during the visit.
Envision Group inked a memorandum of understanding with French utility company Suez to build a zero-carbon battery industrial park in France. The plan covers various fields, including renewable energy supply, battery material production and recycling, and digital intelligence platforms.
Star Charge, a brand under Wanbang Digital Energy, joined hands with French multinational Schneider Electric to set up a super green joint venture to install electric vehicle charging stations and energy storage equipment in Europe.
