(Yicai) March 4 -- Shares in United Faith Auto-Engineering, Shenzhen Sunwin Intelligent and other Chinese robot manufacturers surged by the exchange-imposed limit today after the Chinese government released a short kung-fu video featuring highly agile robots that dazzled viewers with their remarkable skills, strength and speed.

United Faith [SHE: 301112] and Sunwin Intelligent [SHE: 300044], which are both listed on Shenzhen’s Nasdaq-like ChiNext board, both soared 20 percent to CNY31.06 (USD4.27) and CNY8.34 (USD1.15), respectively. Most of the other bourses have a 10 percent cap. Shenzhen Zhaowei Machinery and Electronic [SHE: 003021] surged 10 percent to CNY147.80 (USD20.30), while Shenzhen Zowee Tech [SHE: 002369] closed up 6.8 percent at CNY12.69 (USD1.74), after jumping 10 percent earlier in the day.

“The Legend of Robot Heros,” which was uploaded onto the Chinese government website yesterday ahead of the release of the 2025 Government Work Report tomorrow, offered a glimpse into the impressive progress being made in China’s robotics industry. Companies like EngineAI, Robot Era, Unitree Robotics and Booster Robotics all had their latest humanoid and industrial robots on show.

China’s robotics industry is leading the world in many areas. In February, EngineAI's humanoid robot performed the world’s first front flip by a humanoid robot. The robot, model PM01, is an open-type product designed for research and educational use. Standing 1.38 meters tall and weighing 40 kg, it has a lifespan of five to 10 years. The robot sells for CNY88,000 (USD12,000) in China and deliveries are scheduled to start next quarter.

And Xiaoxing MAX, developed by Robot Era, made headlines last year by climbing the Great Wall. Built like an adult, it stands 1.65 meters tall and is equipped with highly dexterous hands. The Beijing-based firm’s goal is to have it perform intricate tasks in manufacturing or service settings. It has already been purchased by several businesses, a company rep said.

Unitree Robotics’ humanoid robot G1 showed off a flurry of punches and spinning kicks in the video. With a height of 1.3 meters and weighing 35 kg, it has up to 43 degrees of free movement, a battery life of about two hours, and a starting price of CNY99,000.

Not to be outdone, Booster Robotics’ Booster T1 is 1.2 meters tall, weighs around 30 kg and can perform a wide variety of actions, including doing push-ups and playing soccer. Booster Robotics was founded in 2023 with a team from Tsinghua University and initially focused on research and education.

“The Legend of Robot Heros” also featured quadrupedal robots, which can mimic animal movements and behaviors. These types of robots can be applied in a number of fields, including search and rescue, environmental monitoring, and agricultural inspections.

The video featured the "Black Panther 2.0," which was released by the ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center earlier this year and is the fastest robot in the world. Weighing 38 kg, it can reach speeds of up to 10 meters per second.

The video also showcased the impressive abilities of drones, laser weeding robots, underwater robots and lunar rovers.
