(Yicai) Dec. 15 -- NetEase Games, one of the world’s seven biggest gaming companies, will start making native games for Huawei’s HarmonyOS, an independent mobile and ITot operating system developed by the telecom giant.

All of the gaming products released by NetEase will also probably get "harmonized," a source familiar with the matter told Yicai after the Hangzhou-based firm announced today that it will begin developing mobile games designed for Huawei's HarmonyOS.

Through the cooperation, the internet company aims to provide players with more diversified interactive scenarios, as well as more innovative experiences, via games that can make use of the virtual capabilities of the Huawei operating system, NetEase Games said.

As a runner-up in domestic games, NetEase probably intends to rival market leader Tencent Holdings through the partnership with the telecoms giant, the above-mentioned source said to Yicai.

Since Huawei Technologies launched its HarmonyOS ecosystem "pioneers" scheme in August, more than 60 game developers have partnered with it and the OS has welcomed more than 50 native games.

In the past month, Huawei has also invited major Chinese internet firms to join its ecosystem. Thereby, lifestyle giant Meituan, mobile payments provider Alipay, enterprise collaboration platform Dingding, video site Bilibili, social media platform Xiaohongshu, and news aggregator Jinri Toutiao have launched their respective native applications.
