(Yicai) Feb. 6 -- China Modern Dairy Holdings and Bright Dairy’s operations have not been badly impacted by the recent blizzards and freezing temperatures in central Hubei province and eastern Anhui province, the listed Chinese milk producers told Yicai.
Milk production remains normal and logistics are also unaffected by the icy conditions, said Modern Dairy, which owns a number of ranches in Anhui province, each with over 10,000 dairy cows. The highways were somewhat congested on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5, but the roads have now been cleared and traffic is flowing normally.
Production in Wuhan is running as normal, said an executive from Bright Dairy, which has a plant in the capital city of Hubei province. The Shanghai-based company is able to redistribute production nationwide, so product distribution is not affected even during extreme weather.
Modern Dairy’s share price [HKG:1117] closed up 1.4 percent at HKD0.69 (USD0.08) while Bright Dairy’s stock [SHA:600597] jumped 6.8 percent to finish at CNY8.97 (USD1.25).
