(Yicai) Nov. 28 -- Longjian Road and Bridge has scored a USD100 million engineering, procurement and construction contract for 10 industrial parks in Namibia’s special economic zone near the Port of Walvis Bay, the Chinese construction engineering firm announced late yesterday.

Longjian will build 10 industrial parks covering an area of 3,000 hectares in the Walvis Bay Special Economic Zone, the Harbin-based company said. Construction will take around 10 years and the company will sign a subcontract for each of the industrial parks.

The Port of Walvis Bay is Namibia’s largest port and a gateway to many of the continent's landlocked countries. Most of the country's minerals, such as lead, zinc and copper, are exported through this port. It is close to Walvis Bay, the second biggest city in the country,

Longjian was China’s 75th biggest contractor last year and the world’s 229th according to the Engineering News-Record’s Top 250 Global Contractors. The firm logged revenue of CNY945 million (USD132.1 million) from its overseas businesses last year, amounting to 5.5 percent of the total, according to its 2022 financial report.

Unmoved by the news, Longjian’s share price [SHA: 600853] closed up 0.4 percent at CNY4.19 (USD0.59) today.
