(Yicai) Dec. 31 -- China's Huawei Technologies, Geely Holding Group, and Xpeng, three companies involved in smart cars, are highlighting innovation and artificial intelligence as they enter the new year.
In her New Year's address, Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's rotating chairwoman, reviewed the telecom company's difficult journey over the past six years, noting how they witnessed "one miracle after another emerging from the impossible." AI is becoming an important assistant in production lines across various industries, and telecom operators should embrace AI innovation, she added.
Geely wrote in its New Year's message that automotive companies are about to enter a knockout period from next year until 2027. The owner of marques Volvo, Polestar, and Zeekr will not participate in simple price wars but will continue to focus on competition in terms of technology, quality, brand, and service.
Geely is looking to double down on car connectivity with its self-developed low-orbit satellite network. The car business will remain at the core, and Geely will strengthen collaboration in fields such as "ground + low altitude + low Earth orbit," software and hardware layout, sharing of basic technologies and core components, and module architecture upgrades.
He Xiaopeng, chairman of Xpeng, mentioned in a letter to employees that this year was marked by headwinds. Despite challenges in the first half, the company broke sales records four times in the second half of the year. He emphasized that the next decade will be the era of AI, and the carmaker plans to launch new AI-powered models in 2025.
