(Yicai) Aug. 10 -- Gotion High-Tech and Fudan University launched a joint research center for advanced battery technology yesterday at the university’s Jiangwan campus, the power battery company said.
The pair's future research will focus on advanced materials and technology such as sodium-ion batteries, thermal insulation materials, and lithium ferromanganese phosphate materials, Hefei-based Gotion High-Tech said in a statement today.
The two will give full play to their respective advantages in scientific research and market application, sharing research and development platforms and staff, according to Li Wenwu, a professor at Fudan University’s Institute of Optoelectronics and one of the people in charge of the new center.
The university will assist Gotion in solving key technological difficulties it faces to help advance innovations and industrialization of energy storage and conversion technologies, advanced batteries, digital power and new material development, Li noted.
The center is a big step forward for Gotion High-Tech as Fudan University is one of the world’s leading academic centers, said Cheng Qian, the firm’s executive president for overseas business.
The center embodies efforts to push China’s innovation-driven development strategy, said Ma Yugang, assistant to the president and dean of the Institute of Science and Technology, adding that it will also help to speed up Fudan's technological innovation and the practical application of its research achievements.
Besides Fudan University, Gotion High-Tech has worked closely with other well-known colleges such as China’s prestigious Tsinghua University and Stanford and Columbia in the United States, The Paper reported.
Gotion High-Tech is one of the leading domestic firms in independent R&D, production, and sales of lithium-ion batteries for new energy vehicles, and its main products include ternary materials and battery management systems.
